Today I will not be the author of this article. It will be one of you. During the week, we receive a lot of comments and news from different followers of PSICOTEC. We appreciate it a lot and hope that it will stay the same. We have chosen an article written by one of the internet users that we would like to share with you. Let us see if you like it:

Are you beautiful? Maybe it will be easier for you to find a job.

Let us not fool ourselves, trying to pretend that the beauty is within, because it is the visible part that counts. You may have a very impressive Curriculum, different grades issued by prestigious universities, a remarkable experience and everything that you can only imagine, but in the moment of truth, when the conditions are exactly the same, most probably the one who is beautiful will get the job.

It is obvious that we can not fight against our nature, and if it is in our genes to retreat in front of the beautiful ones, we will most certainly do so, even without noticing it.

All this was not invented by me because there are a lot of studies that were realized on this matter. These studies corroborate the present statements. Recently, there was made a research headed by the psychologist Alan Slater from the University of Exeter (Great Britain), in which he demonstrated that five or six-day-old babies are more attracted by the beautiful faces. It seems that the newborns were looking longer time at beautiful faces with more harmonic features and forms. The conclusion of these studies was that the appreciation of the facial beauty is something natural and can not be learned over the years. On the grounds of this, how can we ignore our natural instincts when we are adults if they come from the very beginning of our lives, when we are still free from all the conditionings, clichés and the world of fashion?

It does not mean that if you do not have perfect facial features, it will be impossible for you to succeed in a selection process, but we must admit that we will always find more attractive and show more empathy towards the beautiful ones.

Is this a natural selection? Are these the remains of the inherited instincts and impulses that are not necessary nowadays? Might be, but we must realize that we are living in a community where the physical appearance, the impression that you generate, or how others call it “good appearance” are very important (this reminds me of the words of my friends father: ”You will be treated by your looks.”). This way, whether we like it or not, we depend on our basic instincts that somehow determinate our behaviour and/ or reduce our criteria of something as simple and powerful as the fact of being beautiful.
